According to an announcement in the Government Gazette Volume 123 section 1188a p. 27 on 27th November 2006, the former name of the Faculty of Liberal Arts was Faculty of Applied Arts, which comprised of three departments: Tourism Industry, Home Economics, and General Education. It was later renamed to FACULTY OF LIBERAL ARTS on 14th September 2007 as stated in the Government Gazette Volume 124 section 54a p. 12. |

The Faculty of Liberal Arts can be likened to an Indian Cork tree. Its diversely branching flower cluster represents the different departments of the faculty. Although the departments are diverse, they all have one common goal, to pursue academic excellence.
